FILMS

As an artist I had been making work that explores ideas of sci-fi and spectacle within the theatre of presentation. Underlying themes persist of displacement and constructed myths. The idea for the film began when I wanted to put imagery to the text I had been using in my installations. These installations had been referencing sci-fi cinematic tropes for a number of years, so it seemed like a natural progression. It is the sense of ‘wrong place, wrong time', or in Giorgio Agamben’s phrase: ‘Out of joint-ness’, that prevails in all my films.

The films use existing cinematic tropes to establish a montage of emotional disconnect in the form of a dream-like tone poems, often with performance and place key to the nature of the project.

To date all are single channel films, either shot on my iPhone, or using found footage.
